Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Polymyalgia Rheumatica is one of the most debilitating and yet common forms of musculoskeletal pain. It virtually always occurs in men and women over the age of 60 and usually develops quite suddenly. It is characterized by severe pain and stiffness particularly at night and in the morning but there is little in the way of joint swelling. Most people with the condition feel as if they have become suddenly old. Fortunately it is usually rapidly improved by treatment with small doses of cortisone.
